Hi! I’m Bethany, a Boston-area working mom and kitchen dilettante, and this is my blog about my attempt to cook every recipe in Twelve Months of Monastery Soups in 2019. I bought this cookbook originally in November of 2018 because I was overwhelmed by vegetables from my local CSA, and promptly fell in love with it. While I quickly used up my root-veggie backlog with Brother Victor’s recipes, my interest in seasonal and monastery cooking only grew.  With the new year approaching, I decided that instead of making yet another lose weight/eat healthy/go on a diet resolution, I should try something a little different. Thus, the Year of Soups and Saints idea was born.

My goal with this blog is to document my attempt to cook every recipe in the cookbook, learn more about ancient and modern monastery cooking traditions, try some monastery-produced goodies, and almost certainly do some Drinking with the Saints while I’m at it.
